Third year 3Di Water Management launched
On April 1, 2012 the third year of 3Di Water was launched. In this year, the new,
faster computation model will be extended with a 1D component for the watercourses and drains.
Groundwater and the unsaturated zone have already been implemented in the model. Extending the model with the 1D-component will result in a completely integrated water model, that can be used for both flood and flooding calculations.
In addition, the third year started with several new supporting customers. In the coming months, new case studies will be developed for Waternet and the province of Zeeland, in which the already developed 3Di technologies will be applied.
"With this system, the safety region knows whether an evacuation route will or will not lead through a flooded tunnel. We can also make predictions about where the water will be a few hours from now, so that we can send inhabitants into the right direction. This 3Di programme will save a lot of minunderstanding and will increase the speed of emergency services when rescuing people."
